TCNN Fees applications: update

Over 35 applications have been received in March, but processing has been delayed by many incomplete applications (lacking evidence and other documentation) and even fraudulent applications (including in the write-up text copied from elsewhere or produced by AI, and therefore resulting in the applicant being banned from accessing the Fund). Applicants are also reminded that they must belong to TWO categories of need.

TCNN Fees applications: update

Thirteen complete applications are currently under consideration, however they are delayed due to Pastoral Care Group leaders not having replied to our request a week ago for confirmation (as indicated on the form) that the applicants regularly attend Pastoral Care Group meetings and that the need is genuine.

If you are awaiting a reply, please remind your Pastoral Care Group leader to reply to us.

TCNN Fees applications

Theological Studies applications can be submitted from 1st March, using the online form only (this can be done on a mobile phone or a computer). Only complete applications with all necessary evidence (attached to one email, not many) will be considered. Decisions will be made on Sundays in April, and students and the College bursary will be informed. Payments will be made direct to the college.

Applications from students at other institutions are still welcome, as long as they come within the terms of the Fund.

The Hesed Fund wishes all finalists the very best with this last semester of their studies!

TCNN Fees applications

TCNN Fees applications may be submitted in Mar-Apr only. (If the college gives official notice of full fees being due before then, you may apply earlier, but your application will only be considered if you include a copy of the college’s official notice.)

For guidance on applying, please click here. Last year about half of the applications were rejected because they were incomplete or because documentation was scattered in many separate emails. Read the instructions carefully! Do not apply if you know that you do not meet the criteria, or you may be banned from applying to the Fund later.

12 Jan Update Due to several applications having been submitted before the opening date on 1 March, the form has now been removed from this website. It will be made available again on 1 March.

TCNN Fees applications

Applications must be complete and include all documentation:

  • Application form: Note that you must indicate that you belong to TWO relevant categories.
  • Grade sheet: A photo of the published results with your student number indicated, or your actual Grade Sheet from the college office.
  • Amount requested: This must be approximately 25% of your annual fees, and equal to what you currently owe to the College (as indicated on your Bursar’s note).
  • Bursar’s note
  • Explanation (minimum 1,000 words): A full and detailed explanation of your situation, showing why you are in particular need. You should aim to persuade us with the actual facts of your situation, not simply beg for pity.
  • Evidence: If you claim that you have experienced a ‘tragedy’ (that is, a major close bereavement, a sickness or accident, a direct terrorist attack or similar violence etc.), then you must send whatever evidence may be available, such as a funeral programme, death certificate, letter from your doctor, hospital receipts or news reports etc.).

Send us all of the above items in one email (we have received over 1,100 emails in the last 2 months, which places an excessive administrative burden on the Fund). If you send us an incomplete application, we will not consider it – we will simply return it to you. Then you should reread the information on the form (including all the small print) and go again through the above checklist to ensure that you can resubmit a complete application.

Please wait two weeks for a reply. Then, if necessary, you can write again to remind us.

TCNN Fees applications 2019/20

Dear TCNN students, To ensure that your application this semeter is accepted, please ensure that you have done the following:

  • Use the latest form (not the 2019 form), either online or printed out
  • Read the entire form to ensure that you are eligible
  • Apply only when you yourself have paid at least around 75% of your annual fees
  • Apply only if you are in one of the categories of support listed on the form (the increase in TCNN fees may be a problem to you, but it is not a ‘tragedy’!)
  • Fill in the form completely and correctly
  • Give a full explanation of your circumstances, including the names of any people and places (including specific villages) you refer to
  • Send in one email: your Bursar’s note and Grade Sheet (as specified on the form), and full evidence of any sickness, bereavement, violence or other tragedy which you mention in your application
  • Do not submit multiple copies of the same application (repeat emails waste the Fund Administrator’s time and so delay the processing of applications)
  • Note that: We normally read our emails on Sundays and process applications within two weeks of receipt if all required documentation has been provided.

Remember that the Hesed Fund is a charitable fund which exists to help people in immediate financial need. It therefore does not offer scholarships to fund whole courses of study, but only small grants to cover outstanding balances.

Update 2 Feb 2020: Over 50 applications have been received and processed in the last few days, and many payments made (including to 2nd and 3rd years). Where applicants have been unsuccessful, it has usually been due to:

  • forms being incomplete
  • explanations being careless (unreadable), inappropriate (begging, rather than properly informing) or inadequate (500-1,000 words of explanation is expected, as indicated on the form)
  • evidence not being provided

TCNN Fees application form 2019

Dear friends

The Hesed Fund is a charitable fund which exists to help people in immediate financial need. It therefore does not offer scholarships to fund whole courses of study, but only small grants or ‘bursaries’ to cover outstanding balances (usually max. 25% of annual fees due). It requires detailed evidence of applicants’ stated circumstances (including sickness, bereavement, violence and other tragedies etc.) and maintains a zero tolerance policy on attempts to deceive or defraud the Fund (banning culprits from making future applications, and communicating with College authorities as necessary). We are sorry if this seems strict or harsh, but only by doing this are we able to help generously those in the greatest need – we count on your understanding.

The old 2018 form is no longer valid, so please do not distribute it to others!

The latest TCNN Fees application form is available in two versions:

  • one here that you can fill in online, and
  • one here that you can print out and fill in by hand and email to us.
